Wow, check out the backlash from girls who think they're experts on pain relief in child birth because they've had 1-5 kiddies. I'll take the opinion of a professional midwife over theirs any day, no matter what sex the midwife was. Is it possible that he's touched a nerve ladies? Sounds like those who begged for pain relief are being a bit reactionary, not to mention guilty of taking the poor bloke out of context. The idea was that women are frequently NOT educated about the side effects of strong pain relief such as epidurals (thus choice is not informed), and if it's possible to go without it's better for both mother and baby. He was not saying that women should, "just put up with the pain of childbirth" as the HS headline implies.
